BRAINSPOTTING
David Grand discovered Brainspotting in 2003. He stated that where we look affects how we feel.
Brainspotting accesses through the eye position spots that are located in the visual field and correlate with the emotional and traumatic memories located in the midbrain. In collaboration with a therapist, you will access these brain spots and process the trauma releasing the emotional and energetic charges attached to them.
The brain has the capacity to heal itself. Brainspotting harnesses this capacity and facilitates connectivity between the two brain hemispheres.
Brainspotting is unique through its dual attunement. On the one hand, the changes in the midbrain happen through the neurobiological processes that are connected through the visual field, but also the therapist’s presence which accentuates the client’s insular response to the framing. On the other hand, through the relational attunement (the moment -by-moment tracking of neurophysiological responses, conscious and subconscious reflexes and responses and the interspace within the relationship).
Brainspotting is an evidence-based treatment for, but not limited to:
Complex trauma including sexual trauma, medical trauma, inter-intra generational trauma, child and adult trauma, war trauma, and relational trauma
Depression, anxiety
Unhealthy attachment
Life purpose and spirituality
Addictions (gambling, alcohol, shopping, porn and sex addiction, technology addiction, vaping, and other addictive behaviours)
Unwanted behaviours including compulsions, OCD, nail biting, hair pulling, etc.
PTSD and cPTSD
